A beloved eatery in Langley, Emilio Finatti Pizzeria, has been forced to close its doors after a massive fire erupted in the building next door on Sunday, August 17.

The restaurant took to social media to update its loyal customers: "Our Langley location encountered an unexpected challenge with a fire in the adjacent building. We are incredibly grateful for the quick response and support from the Langley City Fire Department during this situation. Unfortunately, the damage has been devastating, and we are currently assessing the extent of it."

Fire Breaks Out at Construction Site

Langley RCMP reported that emergency services responded to a fire at a construction site at 201 Street and Fraser Highway around 4:13 a.m. on Sunday. "Out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated several neighbouring residential buildings," stated Sergeant Zynal Sharoom.

The fire that started at the six-storey building quickly escalated to a 4-alarm incident, prompting assistance from fire crews in the Township of Langley and Surrey. "All three departments worked diligently to control the blaze, and we appreciate their professionalism and support during this challenging time," the Langley City Firefighters Association remarked.

No Injuries Reported, Community Comes Together

Fortunately, the RCMP reported no injuries related to the fire. Investigations are underway, and anyone with information or dashcam footage is encouraged to come forward.

In the wake of the fire, fans of Emilio Finatti Pizzeria flooded social media with messages of support. "I love your pizza and calzones! I hope the damage isn’t too severe, and you can reopen soon!" wrote one supporter. Another chimed in, "You’re my favorite place to eat. I hope you’re not closed for long!"

Community Spirit Shines Through

In a show of resilience, Emilio Finatti expressed heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support from the community. They also reminded patrons that their other locations in White Rock, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody remain open, with plans for additional spots in the pipeline.

"We are so grateful for the kindness and support for our team during this challenging time. We love being a part of this amazing community!" they concluded.
