In an alarming incident in mid-March, a Cuban national was arrested while attempting to cross the Fort Erie International Railway Bridge from the United States into Canada illegally. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) swiftly responded to the situation and apprehended the individual under provisions of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Upon being detained, the man was taken to the Canada Border Services Agency at the Peace Bridge port of entry in Fort Erie, where he was assessed and deemed ineligible to enter Canada. Consequently, he was returned to the U.S. the same day.
