Mark your calendars, skywatchers! The second total lunar eclipse of 2025 is set to transform the full moon into a mesmerizing coppery-red "blood moon" on the night of September 7–8, painting the night sky in a breathtaking display.

Who Will Have the Best View?

This extraordinary event won't go unnoticed, as it will be visible to billions around the globe! However, the best vantage points will be in Asia and Western Australia, where lucky observers can witness the entire eclipse from beginning to end, according to Time and Date.

Totality will be a sight to behold, stretching for an incredible 82 minutes, occurring between 17:30 and 18:52 GMT (that’s 1:30–2:52 a.m. local time in Perth and 2:30–3:52 a.m. in Tokyo). Don’t miss it!

Who Will Miss Out?

Many regions, including eastern Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and parts of the Middle East, will enjoy most phases of this stunning eclipse. However, the Americas will unfortunately be left in the dark for this event. But don't worry, U.S. stargazers will soon get their chance during the total lunar eclipse on March 2–3, 2026!

Viewing Challenges in Europe

Europeans may face a unique challenge as well. In many parts of Europe, the blood-red moon will rise as totality begins, creating a dramatic yet tricky sight to behold. Observers will need a clear, unobstructed view low on the horizon to catch this lunar spectacle.

For instance, in Berlin, the moon will rise at 7:37 p.m. CEST just as totality kicks in, while Londonites will see the moon rise at 7:30 p.m. BST after the eclipse has already reached totality. Western Europe will see less of the eclipse as the moon rises later into the event.
