A Disturbing Crime Unfolds in Markham

In a dramatic turn of events, four suspects have been detained following a ruthless kidnapping and home invasion in Markham that left the community reeling. York Regional Police have revealed details of the harrowing incident which unfolded on September 1.

A Chilling Encounter

At approximately 8 a.m., a 29-year-old woman was innocently driving through Markham when she was deliberately rammed by another vehicle. Upon exiting her car to assess the damage, she was ambushed by a second vehicle—a brown or gray van thought to be an older model—which forcibly abducted her.

An Assault at Home

But it didn’t stop there. Just an hour later, the suspects arrived at her residence near Ashgrove Road and Hepburn Street, where they tragically shot a 54-year-old man found inside. Although seriously injured, he is expected to survive this brutal attack.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation

Officers responded swiftly, apprehending four suspects on the scene as chaos ensued. However, one suspect managed to escape on foot and remains at large.

The Victim's Fate and Further Developments

Fortunately, the kidnapped woman was later discovered safe in Toronto, and her abandoned vehicle was located nearby, providing some relief amid the unsettling events.

The suspects include two youths, aged 16 and 17, and two adults, aged 20 and 21, all facing multiple charges related to this violent crime. It’s worth noting that the 16-year-old was already under a release order when the incident occurred.
