The wait is finally over! Larian Studios has officially announced that the highly anticipated Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch on Tuesday, April 15. After a successful stress test phase, it’s time for all players to dive into this massive update.

What's New in Patch 8?

Prepare yourself for an epic journey with 12 brand-new subclasses, each packed with unique abilities and playstyles that will transform your gameplay. Here’s a sneak peek at a few highlights!

1. Bard - College of Glamour

As a Bard of the College of Glamour, you can heal your allies and charm your enemies! Use the Mantle of Inspiration to grant friends temporary hit points and potentially manipulate foes into retreating or dropping their weapons.

2. Barbarian - Path of Giants

Step into the Path of Giants and unleash your newfound strength! With Giant’s Rage, you’ll deal extra damage through throw attacks and enjoy an increased carrying capacity. Get ready to heft both friends and foes!

3. Cleric - Death Domain

Embrace the shadows with the Death Domain! This cleric specializes in necrotic magic, introducing new cantrips like Toll The Dead—ringing a bell to unleash devastating damage. Plus, you can turn corpses into explosive traps!

4. Druid - Circle of Stars

Look to the sky as a Druid in the Circle of Stars! Access three Starry Forms, each offering unique powers: from radiant arrows to restorative abilities. Choose your strategy wisely!

5. Paladin - Oath of the Crown

Uphold justice as a Paladin of the Oath of the Crown. Guide your allies with Righteous Clarity and absorb damage with Divine Allegiance, keeping your party in fighting shape.

This patch marks the final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, wrapping up an incredible journey for the game since its launch in 2023. While Larian has hinted at new projects, including a shift away from D&D, excitement remains high for the future of the Baldur's Gate series.

Teasers from Hasbro

Hasbro, the owner of Dungeons & Dragons, has also shared that they’re exploring future plans for the series. Senior VP Dan Ayoub mentioned they have many ideas in the works, hinting at possible expansions or even a Baldur's Gate 4—though that might take some time.
