Only visible at millimeter wavelengths, this extraordinary dot features an oddly structured magnetic field, making it a standout in the vast cosmos.

Initially, the researchers speculated that Punctum might be a peculiar manifestation of something already known—perhaps a magnetar or remnants of a supernova. Nestled within NGC 4945, a nearby galaxy teeming with nascent stars, it seemed improbable that anything could remain hidden.
