Tragic Events Surrounding 5-Year-Old Oliwia from Gniezno

Oliwia, a five-year-old girl from Gniezno, is currently hospitalized due to brutal maltreatment. Medical rescuers had to transport her to the hospital, where numerous physical injuries were diagnosed, as well as alarming signs of previous trauma, including bruises and seromas. As an additional cause for concern, the girl was also severely neglected.

Still in the hospital, Oliwia has yet to be questioned by investigators. Preliminary findings indicate that the girl was brutally beaten with a wooden stick from a broom and a belt when she refused to eat a piece of paper. Her stepfather allegedly employed extreme punishment methods, including corporal punishment with a cold shower, during which he poured water into her mouth until she vomited.

The horrifying cries of the child were heard at the crime scene. Some neighbors claim they did not notice any disturbing signs, although one defended the alleged perpetrator. Robert S., Oliwia's stepfather, tried to downplay his actions, claiming that he "only" hit the child a few times in the face and applied so-called "educational punishments," such as making her stand by the wall.

The aggression towards the girl had reportedly intensified since the birth of her younger brother several months ago. In recent days, while her mother was hospitalized with other children, Oliwia was subjected to regular humiliation and domestic violence.

The court decided on a three-month detention for Robert S. His partner, Oliwia’s mother, has been released but under a contact ban with her daughter and police supervision. Both individuals face serious charges, which could be punishable by up to eight years in prison.

According to information obtained, the family had only recently moved to the center of Gniezno, and neighbors indicated that they had not heard any disturbing noises before, raising questions about the interventions of social services. This tragic story highlights the insufficient support for a child who was a victim of violence.
