Another Deluge in Yishun

SINGAPORE – Just three days after the last flood, Yishun Avenue 7 experienced a second flash flood on April 15, following a bout of heavy rain that struck in the afternoon.

This tumultuous weather was officially reported by Singapore's national water agency, PUB, which warned residents via a post on X at 4:35 PM. The floodwaters quickly receded by 4:55 PM, but not before disrupting local traffic and daily activities.

Avoid Flood-Prone Areas!

In light of the deluge, PUB urged the public to steer clear of the area near the TPE (Punggol West Flyover) for an hour post-flood, due to ongoing heavy rains.

This isn't the first time Yishun has been confronted by flooding this week; a similar incident occurred on April 13, causing chaos across various parts of the island. Other areas affected included sections of the KPE and Punggol Way.

What’s Causing the Chaos?

The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) has reported that the inter-monsoon season, which brings about unpredictable weather patterns, will likely persist until May. This period is characterized by light winds and increased lightning activity.

April is shaping up to be a particularly wet month, with rainfall levels expected to soar above average throughout much of Singapore.

Stay Prepared and Informed!

Residents are encouraged to stay alert and prepared for further severe weather as the month progresses. With more storms anticipated, now's the time to ensure you have a plan in place!
