On April 22, just a day before Nomination Day, Yee declared in a short WP video, "I am stepping up – again." This bold statement comes from a man who, in 2021, proclaimed he had "largely retired from active politics." Joining him are Kenneth Foo, 48, a deputy director at the Singapore Cancer Society; Nathaniel Koh, 41, an IT professional; and Fadli Fawzi, 44, a lawyer. All four have previous electoral experience, with Yee being a notable contestant in Marine Parade GRC during the last two elections.

Yee’s political journey dates back to 2011 when he narrowly lost to PAP veteran Charles Chong in the Joo Chiat SMC by just 0.02%. Despite the setback, he made history as one of the ‘best losers’ appointed as an NCMP.
