China's Smartphone Market Sees Exciting Growth

In a remarkable turnaround, China's smartphone market witnessed a shipment of 70.9 million units in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 5% year-on-year increase. This surge is attributed to favorable national subsidy policies and a resurgence in consumer demand, according to fresh data from Canalys.

Xiaomi Soars to the Top!

Leading this impressive recovery is Xiaomi, whose shipments skyrocketed to 13.3 million units—a staggering 40% increase from last year. This boom not only boosted Xiaomi's market share by 5% but also marked the company's return to the top position for the first time in a decade. The brand's innovative "Human x Car x Home" strategy, combined with substantial subsidies, has clearly resonated with consumers.

Huawei and Others Fight for Second Place

Following Xiaomi, Huawei closely trailed in second place with a solid 18% market share, shipping 13 million units—a commendable 12% rise from the previous year. OPPO and vivo battled for supremacy in third and fourth places, each holding a 15% market share but facing varied fortunes: OPPO shipped 10.6 million units (down 3% YoY), while vivo managed to ship 10.4 million units (up 2% YoY). Meanwhile, Apple finds itself in fifth place with a 13% market share, shipping 9.2 million units, down 8% year-over-year.
