According to a fresh report from the International Data Corp. (IDC), the global wrist-worn device market exploded by 10.5% in the first quarter of 2025, hitting a staggering 45.6 million units shipped. This impressive growth comes on the heels of an upswing in demand across Western Europe, the United States, Latin America, and various Asian markets, except for India.

China Leads the Charge!

Driving this phenomenal growth is China, which shipped an impressive 17.6 million units—a jaw-dropping 37.6% surge compared to the previous year, largely fueled by government subsidies.

Smartwatches and Wristbands: The Dynamic Duo!

The market encompasses both smartwatches and wristbands, with global smartwatch shipments reaching 34.8 million units, marking a 4.8% increase year-over-year. Specifically, China's smartwatch shipments soared by 25.3% to 11.4 million units!

On the wristband front, the growth was even more remarkable, with global shipments jumping 34% to 10.8 million units. China alone accounted for 6.2 million of those, reflecting an astonishing 67.9% increase!
