Woodleigh Bus Interchange: A Long-Awaited Arrival

After years of anticipation, the Woodleigh Bus Interchange celebrated its grand opening on April 20, overcoming significant delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and formidable engineering obstacles. Residents who have been eagerly awaiting this development are finally able to utilize the new travel hub.

Seamless Connectivity with Key Amenities

Nestled within the vibrant Woodleigh Village integrated development—which also houses 330 Housing Board flats and a bustling hawker center—the interchange offers seamless access to Woodleigh MRT station. Initially scheduled for completion in 2021, construction faced unexpected challenges, including the rerouting of underground utilities.

New Routes and Services at Your Fingertips

The interchange will kick off with two bus services: the familiar route 146, now expanded with four additional stops, and the brand new route 148 that will loop between Woodleigh Bus Interchange and Potong Pasir. The convenient 148 route gives residents direct access to neighbouring amenities, including the Woodleigh Mall, schools, and the upcoming Bidadari Polyclinic.

Community Insights: Relief for Residents

Local residents couldn't be more pleased. Madam Mariam Bakar, a tuition teacher riding the inaugural service on April 20, expressed her joy: "It’s a real relief! We’ve been waiting for this for so many years." Her sentiments reflect the community's long-held hopes for improved transport.

Mr. Lim, a new resident of Bidadari, echoed her feelings saying, "The estate is walkable, but this is essential, especially for our grandparents visiting." Understanding the convenience offered by the new interchange, residents are thrilled to finally have easier travel options.

Upcoming Changes: Pasir Ris Bus Interchange to Follow Suit

Just as excitement builds around Woodleigh, another upgrade is on the horizon. The new Pasir Ris Bus Interchange is set to open on April 27, integrating with Pasir Ris Mall and conveniently located next to the Pasir Ris MRT station. This upgrade will consolidate 17 public bus services, enhancing transport connections throughout the area.

Integrated Transport Hubs: A New Era for Singapore

With the launch of both Woodleigh and Pasir Ris interchanges, Singapore now boasts a total of 14 integrated transport hubs. These hubs not only facilitate efficient travel but also offer shopping and other conveniences, allowing commuters to run errands before boarding their buses or trains.
