Exciting news for Wolfenstein enthusiasts—MachineGames is not finished with the iconic series just yet!
While titles like Youngblood and the VR experience Cyberpilot have explored the Blazkowicz family saga, it's been a while since we've taken control of the legendary B.J. Blazkowicz, last seen in 2017's The New Colossus. Now, it appears the team at MachineGames, led by director Jerk Gustafsson, has more chapters in mind for our hero.
In a recent interview with Noclip, Gustafsson revealed that B.J.'s journey was envisioned as a trilogy from the very beginning. "We always saw [BJ's story] as a trilogy," he explained. "Even in those early days at [id Software] when we were planning out New Order, we had a clear vision for what would unfold in the second and third installments."
This hints at a future that could bring B.J. back to the forefront, with Gustafsson expressing optimism: "I think it's important to say—at least, I hope—we're not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell."
The last major title, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, which hit shelves in 2019, transported players to 1980, nearly two decades after B.J. sparked the second American Revolution. While the game introduced a new generation of Blazkowicz fighters, it garnered mixed reviews, with IGN giving it a lukewarm 6.5 and dubbing it "aggressively okay."
Meanwhile, MachineGames has shifted gears with their latest project, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, earning a stellar 9/10 rating. This only adds to the anticipation for what’s next in the Wolfenstein universe.
So, fellow gamers, stay tuned—more thrilling adventures in the world of Wolfenstein might be just around the corner!
