In a significant and heartbreaking development, KBS has announced that today's live broadcast of the beloved music show 'Music Bank' will be canceled due to the devastating wildfires currently ravaging South Korea. This announcement was confirmed to Ilgan Sports on March 28.
In place of the live performance, viewers can look forward to a pre-recorded special of 'Park Won-sook's Live Together,’ as the network adjusts its programming amid this tragic event. Fans of 'Music Bank' need not worry, as the next episode is set to air on April 4, promising a return to the show's usual Friday slot at 5:05 PM, hosted by the charismatic Moon Sang Min and the talented Minju of idol group ILLIT.
The wildfire disaster, which began in the Gyeongnam Sancheong area, has now spread alarmingly to Hadong, marking its eighth day of relentless destruction. According to the Central Disaster Safety Headquarters, the area impacted by the wildfire has ballooned to a staggering 48,000 hectares. To put this into perspective, this area is roughly 80% the size of Seoul, which spans 60,520 hectares.
Tragically, the wildfires have claimed the lives of 28 individuals, leaving 9 others in serious condition and another 28 with minor injuries, totaling 65 people affected by this catastrophe. Additionally, approximately 33,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure, highlighting the scale of this environmental crisis.
As the nation rallies in response to the wildfires, the community spirit shines brightly, with countless volunteers and organizations stepping up to provide aid and support for those affected. This disaster serves as a stark reminder of nature's unpredictability and the urgent need for effective disaster preparedness and response measures.
