While children are receiving pneumococcal conjugate vaccines, which have significantly boosted herd immunity, older adults still face heightened risks. The World Health Organization warns that by 2050, there will be an astonishing 2.1 billion individuals over 60. Research Reveals Uneven Vaccination Practices

A research team from the University of Ottawa compiled a comprehensive review of pneumococcal immunization practices among healthcare workers. Their analysis included data from various international studies, covering regions from North America to Europe and Asia.

Findings revealed a dramatic disparity in vaccination rates; reports showed healthcare providers administered or recommended the vaccine to older patients at rates between 23.7% and a staggering 100%.
