Objectives:

1. **Strengthening Epidemiological Surveillance** Focus on improving the monitoring systems for infectious diseases that are resurfacing, as well as new health threats.

2. **Conducting Public Health Research** Lead crucial research initiatives and rigorous data analysis that will shape the health policies of the Central Research Division (CRD) in Lebanon.

3. **Outbreak Response and Prevention** Provide expert guidance on developing effective responses to health crises, aiming to mitigate risks associated with infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

- **Data Collection and Analysis** - Design and implement epidemiological studies, surveys, and health assessments. - Analyze complex datasets to uncover disease trends, risk factors, and health outcomes.

- **Surveillance and Reporting** - Create and maintain efficient surveillance systems for both infectious and non-communicable diseases. - Regularly prepare epidemiological reports that will inform and refine CRD's public health initiatives.

- **Outbreak Investigation and Response** - Lead thorough outbreak investigations in collaboration with local health authorities and response teams. - Offer evidence-based recommendations that will help contain outbreaks and prevent future occurrences.

- **Research and Publication** - Drive public health research projects and ensure the findings are published in reputable peer-reviewed journals. - Stay informed on global and regional epidemiological trends, contributing valuable insights to CRD’s knowledge.

- **Capacity Building and Training** - Develop comprehensive training materials and conduct workshops focused on epidemiology and public health for CRD staff and local health workers. - Mentor junior epidemiologists and interns, fostering the next generation of public health leaders.

Required Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field. - A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in epidemiology or public health research. - Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software (such as R, SAS, or SPSS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools.

- Experience with outbreak responses and managing public health surveillance systems is essential. - Exceptional communication and report-writing abilities.

Competencies:

- In-depth knowledge of epidemiology, particularly regarding infectious diseases. - Capability to perform independently in high-pressure settings, especially during health emergencies.

- Proficiency in both English and Arabic.
