In a swift diplomatic maneuver, South Korea has successfully wrapped up negotiations with the United States, resulting in plans to free detained Korean workers in Georgia. A presidential official confirmed on Sunday that a plane is set to take off as soon as remaining administrative procedures are finalized.

Government Commitment Strong

Kang Hun-sik, South Korea's Chief of Staff, stated in a televised update, "Thanks to our rapid and unified response, negotiations for the release have been completed. We are just waiting for final approvals before a chartered flight dispatches to bring our citizens home."

Raids Spark Outrage

This diplomatic breakthrough follows a shocking raid by U.S. federal agents at a Hyundai Motor plant, marking the largest single-site immigration enforcement operation ever conducted by the Department of Homeland Security. More than 300 South Koreans were among the 475 individuals apprehended during this high-profile crackdown.

A Call for Change

In light of these events, President Lee Jae Myung directed his administration to take immediate action. Kang also indicated that they are exploring improvements to the visa system for Korean workers traveling to the U.S., aiming to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Graphic Footage Released

Disturbing footage from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement showed workers shackled and escorted away from the raid site, while hundreds stood outside the Hyundai facility, some in yellow vests marked with company names like "Hyundai" and "LG CNS." In a desperate move, two workers attempted to escape by hiding in a pond.

Corporate Response

As the situation unfolds, corporate leaders are stepping in to address the crisis. Kim Ki-soo, an executive from LG Energy Solution, hurriedly flew to Georgia, emphasizing, "Our top priority is securing the swift release of our employees and those from our partner companies." Out of the arrested workers, 47 were affiliated with LG Energy Solution.
