Imagine stepping into a nostalgic phone booth from the 90s, now transformed into a futuristic interactive experience! At Milan Design Week 2025, QS Ventures unveiled the '2147' installation, showcasing Gaia, a groundbreaking multilingual AI voice agent. This creative project, nestled within the vibrant BASE Milano, challenges the conventional design narrative by eliminating screens, focusing solely on the power of voice.

Conversational Magic: A New Era of Interaction

Over five exhilarating days, the booth facilitated more than 1,200 minutes of unscripted dialogue with over 600 curious participants. In a world increasingly dominated by visual interfaces, 2147 champions voice as a dynamic design element, creating a spatial and emotional dialogue experience.

Not Just Any Assistant—Meet Gaia

Gaia isn't your average AI assistant; she’s a narrative-driven character with a unique voice and personality. Developed by QS Ventures, led by the innovative Cristóbal Olmedo, Gaia brings elements of film and storytelling to life. "We designed a voice, a character, not just a user interface," says Olmedo, hinting at the artistic depth embedded within this technology.

Breaking Language Barriers

Participants engaged with Gaia in a delightful mélange of languages including English, Italian, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Tagalog. Each interaction was spontaneous, driven by real-time responses rather than pre-defined scripts. The project highlighted how unscripted dialogues can foster deeper connections, exploring emotional pacing and the natural flow of conversation.

A Living Artwork: Nature Meets Technology

The exterior of the booth remained unchanged, draped in a lush tapestry of moss and foliage, symbolizing a bridge between the past and the digital future. This green adornment contrasts beautifully with the advanced conversational technology housed inside, serving as a visual metaphor for nature and innovation coexisting.

2147 was not only a stunning installation but also a part of the collaborative design residency, Glitch Camp, held on the rooftop of BASE Milano.
