Say Goodbye to Doubts in Your Chats!

Google Messages is taking communication security to the next level with a groundbreaking feature: QR code-based key verification! This innovative rollout aims to ensure that you are truly communicating with the intended recipient, enhancing privacy like never before.

How It Works: A Simple Scan!

Once available, you can easily access this fantastic feature by opening any conversation in Google Messages. Just tap on your contact's name to bring up the Details page. You'll notice an updated End-to-End Encryption card that now includes a streamlined process to verify your encryption keys.

Previously, users faced a complicated 80-digit code. But now, Google offers a much more user-friendly "Security & Privacy" option, allowing you to quickly and effectively verify keys.

Why Verify Keys?

Google emphasizes the importance of this verification process: it creates a shield around your conversations, ensuring that only you and your contact can read the RCS messages exchanged.

Scanning Made Easy!

To verify keys, simply scan your contact's QR code, and have them scan yours in return. It’s that simple! You can also check the status of your verified keys by navigating to 'Connected Apps' in the Contacts app.

Additional Features!

While the integration with Google Contacts is not yet live, the QR Code verification feature offers a convenient 'Scan Contact’s QR Code' option, which smoothly opens the Android System Key Verification application already installed on your device.

Old but Gold!

Don’t worry if you’re still a fan of the classic method; the 80-digit code option remains available for those who prefer it. Just tap on 'Compare Verification Codes' on the new verification sheet.

What's Next?

Currently part of the Google Messages beta, this exciting new feature hasn’t hit the stable channel yet. Google has shared plans to fully roll it out in 2025 for Android 9 and above, including a unified system for public key verification that will expand to third-party apps.

Stay Secure and Connected!

With these enhancements, Google Messages is not just about chatting; it’s about securing your conversations. Stay tuned for more exciting features and improve your messaging experience!
