In an exciting leap towards enhancing mental wellness, researchers from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) have launched a groundbreaking clinical trial for their innovative app, ReNeuWell®. This app is rooted in the scientifically validated COMPAS-W Wellbeing Scale, designed to assess both subjective and psychological wellbeing.
Led by A/Professor Justine Gatt from UNSW’s School of Psychology, this collaboration has produced an app that goes beyond traditional mental health tools. Partnering with Miroma Project Factory, experts in behavioral change through gamification, the app's development emphasizes interactive engagement to promote meaningful shifts in user behavior.
Katherine Robinson, CEO of Miroma Project Factory, expressed her enthusiasm about the project, stating, "We are thrilled to support Justine and her team in this vital work, especially at a time when many in our community are desperately seeking ways to boost their resilience and wellbeing. The ReNeuWell® app is poised to deliver genuine change and enhance the lives of its users."
The ReNeuWell® app encourages active participation, offering an array of exercises, games, tasks, and personalized goals. Through action-oriented questionnaires and self-monitoring features, the app aims to gather essential data that furthers research into resilience and wellbeing.
The app primarily targets average, healthy adults interested in enhancing their mental wellness. A/Professor Gatt notes, "While many mental health apps aim to alleviate symptoms for those formally diagnosed with mental health issues, which affect about 20% of the population, ReNeuWell® takes a proactive stance by addressing the remaining 80%. This is about empowering individuals whose wellbeing might be waning, helping them to flourish."
A/Professor Gatt further elaborated, "ReNeuWell® is designed to provide practical strategies to improve mental health and strengthen resilience against life’s challenges."
