Get Ready to Explore the Arts!
SINGAPORE – Starting September 1, a groundbreaking initiative known as the SG Culture Pass will debut, offering citizens access to an impressive selection of over 400 arts and heritage events, from performances to engaging workshops. With $100 in digital credits up for grabs, all Singaporeans aged 18 and above can dive into a world of cultural experiences at sgculturepass.gov.sg!
A Simple Start with Big Benefits
Eligible citizens will receive an SMS notification from the government in September, but you don’t need to wait for this message to start your cultural journey. Simply log in using your Singpass account and begin exploring the myriad of events available.
What's on Offer?
This unprecedented initiative, announced in Budget 2025, aims to remove financial barriers and encourage more people to engage with the arts. The hope is that these initial subsidized experiences will entice attendees to continue participating in future events, ultimately expanding the local arts audience.
With a robust $300 million budget, the credits can be used to purchase tickets for family and friends but cannot be cashed or donated. Choose from popular events like a graffiti workshop by Art Outreach, a guided city tour related to the anthology *Streets And Places Of Singapore*, and a captivating Mandopop musical called *Partial Eclipse Of The Heart*.
Navigating Your Culture Pass
To redeem your credits, simply log onto sgculturepass.gov.sg, answer a few quick questions, and you're ready to browse! When you find an event that piques your interest, you’ll be directed to one of six affiliated ticketing partners—Sistic, BookMyShow, Klook, Pelago, Globaltix, or Trip.com. Just select the SG Culture Pass as your payment option, and your credits will apply directly.
Support for All and Safety First!
MCCY is also collaborating with nursing homes and active aging centers to facilitate credit redemption for seniors through organized outings. Plus, SG Culture Pass ambassadors will be stationed at community clubs throughout the month of September, ready to assist anyone needing guidance.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong remarked on Instagram about Singapore's unique cultural identity, urging citizens to use their credits to explore and support local talent. “Explore something new. Support our artists and cultural practitioners,” he encouraged.
A Cautionary Note on Scams
MCCY warns users to be cautious against scams. They will never ask for personal or banking information via SMS. For additional support, call 6338-3632.
Make the Most of Your Credits!
As we move towards a vibrant arts scene, don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in Singapore’s cultural offerings. Despite the uncertainties surrounding the uptake of such initiatives, let's hope the community embraces this chance to grow and appreciate the rich tapestry of local arts!
