What’s New?

ESA's Discovery initiatives are designed to identify and cultivate high-risk, high-reward concepts that lay the foundation for tomorrow's explorations. By embracing ambitious ideas, ESA aims to tackle ambitious goals outlined in its Strategy 2040. The Open Space Innovation Platform (OSIP), established in 2019, remains the primary channel for fresh ideas, and this new iteration of the Open Discovery Ideas Channel enhances user experience. Feedback from industry and academic partners has been incorporated to create a more streamlined process for contributors.

The proposal process has never been easier! The updated Idea Form allows you to categorize your idea, ensuring that you connect with a qualified idea coach and relevant ESA experts who can guide you through the journey. Additionally, an accessible overview of various implementation schemes is now available, outlining the three paths designed to support innovative projects.

If your proposal garners approval, ESA will fund the initiative through its Discovery element, establishing a Cooperative Agreement to bring your vision to life. The agency is committed to refining the contracting timeline and enhancing procedural efficiency while maintaining the highest standards for innovation.
