Unai Emery has reassured fans about Emiliano Martinez's situation, declaring the Aston Villa goalkeeper to be the best in the world. This comes after Martinez expressed a desire to leave the club this summer, especially with Manchester United showing interest.

Martinez's wish to transfer was notably highlighted during Aston Villa's disappointing 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on August 31, where he was left out of the squad. Ultimately, Manchester United opted to sign Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens instead, leaving Martinez at Villa.

In an effort to quell any speculation about tension between player and club, Emery praised Martinez ahead of the game against Everton, aiming for Villa's first win of the season. He stated, "Emiliano Martinez staying is good news. I’m so happy. For me, he is the best goalkeeper in the world and his commitment to Aston Villa is massive."

Emery emphasized that Martinez is training diligently and maintaining a positive attitude, demonstrating his respect for the club. "Emiliano is happy again and now he knows the challenges ahead with Villa and his national team. Some circumstances happened, but now everyone is happy. Today the energy was very good," he added.

As Aston Villa gears up to face Everton, Emery hinted at the possibility of debuting at least one of his new signings from deadline day. Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho joined on loan, while Victor Lindelof arrived on a free transfer. Emery noted, "Sancho will need time physically, and so will Lindelof, but they are in the squad for tomorrow. Elliott has trained normally and is fit."
