SINGAPORE: In an exciting announcement on October 30, the Ministry of Defence revealed that S$200 in LifeSG credits would be progressively disbursed to all national servicemen in November.

This has sparked a flurry of interest online, especially with TikTok user Haiqal HSG (@hservicesg) stepping up to create a viral video that details the withdrawal process.

The video, which was posted on November 1, has racked up nearly 120,000 views, making it a must-watch for all national servicemen eager to claim their credits.

Haiqal explained that these credits can not only be spent at a range of online and physical vendors accepting PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR, but they can also be withdrawn as cash from select ATMs.

Step-by-Step Withdrawal Process:
1. Open the LifeSG App:

Navigate through the app until you find the section labeled NS LifeSG credits.

2. Find an ATM:

Head to a green ATM that supports the Paynow option. In Haiqal’s demonstration, he visited one located near Sheng Shiong.

3. Select Paynow:

Upon choosing the Paynow option at the ATM, remember there’s a convenience fee of S$0.20 for the transaction.

4. Withdrawal Limit:

You can withdraw up to S$190 in cash, with the remaining balance available in the LifeSG app.

5. Provide QR Code:

You'll need to present a QR code generated from your LifeSG app to complete the withdrawal. Haiqal reiterated the S$0.20 convenience fee at this stage as well.

He concluded with a cheerful note: “Enjoy the money!”

The helpfulness of this guide resonated with viewers, many of whom expressed their gratitude in the comments. Suggestions also flowed in, such as transferring the S$200 to the YouTrip app or Shopee wallet to avoid extra fees and then moving it to a bank account.

Additional Information:
The LifeSG credits, valid for one year from the disbursement date, are intended as a recognition of the contributions made by past and present national servicemen towards Singapore's defense and security.

Approximately 1.2 million servicemen are eligible for this benefit.

Each recipient will be informed via SMS and an official notification letter when their credits are available. For those who might forget, the LifeSG mobile app will provide easy access to check the balance and validity of their credits.

With this informative guide, national servicemen can easily navigate the process and make the most of their LifeSG credits. Make sure to take action soon, as these credits are meant to enhance your spending options in the local economy!
