Devastating Accident on CTE
In a heart-wrenching incident on June 25, a 34-year-old man succumbed to his injuries in hospital after a catastrophic collision involving two lorries on Singapore's Central Expressway (CTE). The accident occurred while the two vehicles were heading towards the Seletar Expressway.
Traumatic Rescue Efforts
Emergency services were alerted to the chaos around 1:55 PM. Upon arrival, responders had to employ hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the man, who was left unconscious and trapped in one of the lorries. Unfortunately, he later died in the hospital.
Legal Consequences for the Driver
The 24-year-old driver of the lorry in which the victim was a passenger has been arrested on charges of careless driving that led to the tragic death. Meanwhile, the other lorry's driver, a 32-year-old man, was also taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment.
Traffic Jam and Public Safety Alert
In response to the accident, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) quickly posted on X, warning drivers to steer clear of three out of four lanes on the CTE where the incident took place. By 5:20 PM, traffic congestion had worsened, stretching an alarming 6 kilometers back to Cairnhill Circle.
