KLUANG - A devastating highway collision in Kluang, Johor, has left a 33-year-old Malaysian man dead and a married couple injured.

The unfortunate incident, which occurred on November 15 at KM69.5 of the North-South highway, has raised urgent concerns about road safety.

Incident Details

According to authorities, the driver of the container lorry lost control of his vehicle while transporting a load of fertilizer to Johor Bahru. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the lorry crashed into the central metal divider before overturning, causing catastrophic consequences. The rear of the lorry was subsequently struck by an oncoming vehicle, while a motorcycle collided with the fallen container.

Casualties

The motorcyclist, who suffered severe injuries, tragically died at the scene. Meanwhile, the car driver, a 25-year-old man, sustained injuries to his legs and body, with his 26-year-old wife suffering head injuries. Fortunately, their one-year-old baby, who was also in the vehicle, was unharmed.

Investigation

Kluang Deputy OCPD Superintendent Nik Mohd Azmi Husin stated that the lorry driver, aged 40, was arrested to aid the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Despite being unharmed, the driver claimed that he lost control after his lorry’s right front tyre blew out, causing him to veer into the opposite lane. A urine test revealed no drugs in his system.
