A heartbreaking incident has struck the diving community as a Hong Kong woman, identified only by her surname Fong, tragically lost her life while engaged in a 100-meter deep technical diving course in Cebu, Philippines, on March 29th. As of now, her body remains in the local vicinity.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department swiftly addressed the shocking news, confirming their proactive measures in response to the tragedy. Upon learning of the accident, they coordinated with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Hong Kong and the Chinese Consulate in Cebu. They have also been in contact with Fong's family, offering them the necessary advice and assistance tailored to their needs during this difficult time.

Fong, reportedly in her fifties, had traveled to Cebu with a diving instructor from Hong Kong to participate in the advanced technical diving course. This rigorous training requires a series of preparatory sessions focused on depth acclimatization and essential safety protocols.
