In a shocking incident that unfolded on June 9, at least 15 lives were tragically cut short when a bus packed with university students collided with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on a Malaysian highway. This catastrophic accident occurred around 1:10 AM along the East-West Highway near Tasik Banding in the town of Gerik, Perak.

The Details of the Devastating Collision

Reports indicate that the bus was en route from Jerteh in Terengganu to its campus in Tanjung Malim, Perak, when the horrific crash took place. Emergency responders from the Gerik Fire and Rescue Station arrived nearly an hour later to find the bus overturned, while the MPV lay in a nearby ditch.

Who Were Affected?

In total, 48 individuals were involved in this tragic incident, including 42 students returning to campus after celebrating Hari Raya Haji on June 7, alongside four passengers from the MPV, the bus driver, and an attendant.
