A Series of Shaky Events in Johor!

In an unsettling turn of events, Johor experienced its third earthquake in less than a week when a mild quake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale struck the region on August 27 at 8:59 AM. Tremors were felt not only in Johor but also reached parts of southern Pahang.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the epicenter was pinpointed 18 kilometers south of Segamat, with the seismic activity originating from a depth of just 10 kilometers.

This latest disturbance comes hot on the heels of two previous quakes recorded just three days earlier. On August 24, the earth shook twice, first registering a magnitude of 4.1 just 5 kilometers west of Segamat, followed by a smaller quake of 2.8 that shook the area approximately 28 kilometers northwest of Kluang.

Residents across Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and southern Pahang reported feeling the aftershocks from both quakes, as anxiety grows about the seismic activity in this region.

Located about 180 kilometers from Singapore, Segamat is no stranger to seismic activity. As more residents feel the earth tremble beneath them, questions arise: What is causing this unusual spate of earthquakes? Are more on the way?
