The Stunt That Went Wrong

Caden and his older brother were initially thrilled as they engaged in the viral experiment. The stunt, which supposedly results in a spectacular flame display, quickly turned dangerous. As Caden tried to dispose of the alcohol bottle, his shirt unexpectedly caught fire. "My brother and I did that, and it was cool," Caden recalled to KXAN, reflecting on the fateful day of August 16.

A Brave Act of Quick Thinking

When the flames engulfed his shirt, Caden's older brother acted heroically, tearing off the burning fabric and instructing him to stop, drop, and roll. Their mother, Christina Ballard, was horrified to discover her son on their porch, covered in burns.

Caden's Road to Recovery

Following the accident, Caden was rushed to a burn unit in Dallas and later moved to a specialized children's facility in Galveston. He has already undergone surgery and faces a long and challenging recovery process, which will require extensive treatment and therapy.
