Transforming East Nusa Tenggara: A Solar Revolution

In a groundbreaking move towards sustainability, Sudamala Resort on Seraya Kecil Island in East Nusa Tenggara has officially launched an innovative solar energy system designed to power its entire operation. With 480 high-efficiency solar panels installed throughout the resort, this initiative marks a significant step away from fossil fuels towards a greener and brighter future.

Harnessing Renewable Energy All Year Round

With a formidable capacity of 300 kWp and a powerful 770 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), Sudamala Resort is poised to store solar energy for use even after sunset. The resort expects to generate an impressive 410,000 kWh of clean energy annually, which will dramatically reduce carbon emissions by about 370,000 kg each year – a feat comparable to planting more than 4,900 trees!

Labuan Bajo: A Green Tourism Hub

This initiative is not just a win for the resort; it's also part of Labuan Bajo's growing reputation as a premier eco-tourism destination. The combination of sustainability and natural beauty makes this area an ideal location for environmentally conscious travelers. East Nusa Tenggara is ambitiously aiming to establish itself as Indonesia’s renewable energy hotspot.

A Visionary Commitment to Sustainability

"Sudamala Resort, Seraya exemplifies that environmental responsibility and business resilience can coexist," declared Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena. He emphasized that as Labuan Bajo evolves into a world-class tourist spot, projects like this are essential for maintaining sustainable and responsible growth.

Eco-Friendly Stay for Conscious Travelers

Thanks to this solar initiative, up to 85 percent of the resort's energy needs are now met with renewable sources, allowing eco-aware guests to contribute to sustainable tourism simply by choosing to stay at Sudamala Resort.

Inspiration for the Hospitality Industry

"This transition shows our unwavering commitment to sustainability and aligns with the values of our eco-conscious guests," said Ben Subrata, CEO of Sudamala Resorts. He expressed hopes that this forward-thinking project would inspire other hospitality businesses, particularly those situated in remote areas, to adopt renewable energy solutions.

Collaborative Efforts for a Sustainable Future

This ambitious project was made possible through collaborations with Xurya, a leading solar energy provider, and Suryagen, specialists in energy storage and solar solutions. Vice Regent of Manggarai Barat, Dr. Yulianus Weng, highlighted that clean energy resources—ranging from solar to geothermal—are abundant in the region. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, private sectors, and local communities to make renewable projects a reality.

Leading the Charge Towards Green Initiatives

With this solar energy project, Sudamala Resort, Seraya sets a new benchmark in integrating renewable energy into remote hospitality, paving the way for a wave of green initiatives across Labuan Bajo and beyond. The future is bright, and it’s powered by the sun!
