A Shocking Sight in Tampines!
Can you imagine seeing Spider-Man in your neighborhood? That’s exactly what resident Victor thought when he spotted a worker suspended by ropes while painting the facade of Block 221 Tampines Street 21 on August 13.
Victor shared photos of the daring worker, who indeed resembled the beloved superhero, hanging from the top of the block. He expressed his concern, stating, "I felt it was a very dangerous thing to do."
Safety First: Town Council Responds!
In response to Victor's worries, the Tampines Town Council swiftly assured the public that all necessary safety protocols were strictly adhered to during the job. A spokesperson emphasized their commitment to safety, explaining that before any rope access work takes place, the methods are thoroughly evaluated by qualified professionals to ensure compliance with safety standards.
"Given the site constraints, using rope access was the most effective method for this task," they explained. The council engaged a qualified contractor, and the anchoring system was designed and certified by a structural engineer, complete with robust anchor bolts securely embedded in the building's concrete structure to guarantee the workers’ safety.
Community Safety is a Priority!
The town council expressed gratitude towards Victor for his vigilance, adding, "Safety is always our top priority. Our team conducts stringent checks to ensure the welfare of both contractors and employees." They encouraged residents to report any unusual activities via their hotline or email so that concerns can be addressed promptly.
So, don’t be alarmed if you see a superhero-like worker in your neighborhood—just know that they've got safety strapped in!
