In an exciting boost for global internet access, SpaceX has successfully launched 24 additional Starlink satellites into orbit!
The Falcon 9 rocket roared to life amid the fog at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, lifting off on September 19 at precisely 12:31 p.m. EDT. Eyewitnesses were treated to a stunning display as the rocket ascended into the sky.
Just 8.5 minutes after launch, the Falcon 9's first stage made a flawless return to Earth, touchdown on the SpaceX drone ship christened "Of Course I Still Love You"—floating gracefully in the Pacific Ocean. This marks a significant milestone as booster B1088 celebrated its 10th successful flight and landing!
While the first stage was safely home, the Falcon 9’s upper stage continued its mission, taking the 24 new satellites to low Earth orbit. If all goes according to plan, these satellites will be deployed a little over an hour after lift-off.
With this launch, the Starlink network grows ever more powerful, boasting nearly 8,400 active satellites—setting the record for the largest satellite constellation in history.
Today's mission marks the 118th Falcon 9 flight of 2025, with a remarkable 70% of these launches dedicated to expanding the Starlink internet coverage, pushing humanity closer to universal connectivity.
