Over 2,000 Engaged in Groundbreaking Initiatives in Their Inaugural Year
HONG KONG, April 2, 2025 -- In a significant step forward for innovation and technology (I&T), Sino Group has emerged as a vital player in nurturing talent and supporting the development of the I&T ecosystem. Since launching the Sino Inno Lab and The Spark in the vibrant Northern Metropolis last year, these platforms have engaged over 2,000 visitors, including students from local universities, startups from the Greater Bay Area, and international delegates. This community-focused interaction is aimed at fostering insightful industry dialogue.
Recently, The Spark hosted its inaugural Community Wellness Inno Day at One North, a groundbreaking event meant to deepen the community's connection with I&T. Showcasing innovations from startups associated with prestigious institutions like the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the event also featured partnerships with organizations like hive, which advocates for wellness initiatives through balanced living activities. With over 500 attendees, including families from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, this event highlighted the importance of wellness technology and its role in improving community well-being.
The Sino Inno Lab has quickly gained prominence as a dynamic sandbox for startups, inventors, and tech companies from Hong Kong and beyond. This innovative space not only facilitates proof-of-concept developments but also fosters collaboration to devise solutions that elevate Hong Kong's connectivity with the Greater Bay Area and the global tech community. Spanning 4,000 square feet in One North, Sino Inno Lab is home to The Spark, which serves as a co-working environment tailored for I&T professionals.
Celebrating its first anniversary, The Spark's Community Wellness Inno Day placed a spotlight on mind-body wellness. Among the many innovative displays, PanopticAI unveiled the world's first contactless pulse rate measurement application, utilizing AI-driven health data analytics. Their collaboration with Lify Wellness introduced a unique 'Wellness Journey' experience that features AI Facial Scanning Well-Being Analytics, coupled with personalized herbal tea recommendations. Dr. Kyle Wong, CEO and co-founder of PanopticAI, expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, "It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce our AI technology, witnessing firsthand its positive impact and potential to enrich lives. This feedback inspires us to continuously develop products that integrate wellness technology into everyday routines."
Additionally, the event showcased LocoBike, a startup that offered a 360-degree virtual reality (VR) cycling experience designed to promote healthy and eco-friendly commuting while celebrating the Northern Metropolis's natural beauty. A cutting-edge technological showcase from HKU, enhanced by VOTANIC, featured a highly immersive 360-degree VR bowling experience using an advanced CAVE virtual environment system, demonstrating Hong Kong's innovative prowess in virtual reality and AI technologies.
David Ng, Group Associate Director of Sino Group, stated, "Our commitment to enhancing the I&T ecosystem through initiatives such as Sino Inno Lab and The Spark is a priority as we focus on cultivating talent and integrating I&T into daily activities. The widespread use and growth of AI technology are essential for our future, creating substantial opportunities for both businesses and communities."
Participants at the event were thrilled to see the practical uses of AI in their lives. Families particularly enjoyed engaging with an AI chess-playing robot, while children actively participated in wellness activities. The event also included opportunities for collaboration with tenants from One North, where hive provided free classes ranging from Muay Thai to yoga. Another tenant, First Climb, contributed by offering rock-climbing experiences to boost physical engagement and encourage overall wellness.
One North stands out as a promoter of a balanced lifestyle, frequently organizing wellness-oriented activities including yoga classes, running sessions, and cycling events. Its expansive 20,000-square-foot outdoor area features a connected cycle track network, encouraging active travel and sustainable commuting. Recently, One North achieved the prestigious ActiveScore Certified Gold status, recognizing its dedication to promoting low-carbon and physical commuting options within the realm of real estate.
As these initiatives continue to reshape the landscape of I&T in Hong Kong, they underline the critical role of innovation in enhancing daily life and community wellness.
