In a challenging landscape for cinemas in Singapore, fans of indie films have a reason to celebrate! The critically anticipated sci-fi comedy 'We Can Save The World!!!' is finally hitting the big screen, despite some major setbacks.

With beloved independent cinema The Projector recently closing its doors and Cathay Cineplexes ceasing operations, many feared for the fate of local films. Originally set to premiere on August 1, 'We Can Save The World!!!' faced an uphill battle when The Projector announced it would vacate its space, followed by Cathay’s closure announcement.

However, the indomitable spirit of the film’s production team—producers Martin Loh, Tan Jia Min, and Lee Yi Jia, along with writer-director Cheng Chai Hong—shone through the adversity. Their persistence paid off!

On September 16, the team took to Instagram to announce that showtimes had been secured with major cinema chains like Shaw, Golden Village, and EagleWings. The excitement is palpable as Cheng revealed that they're also collaborating with Cineleisure Orchard.

Mark your calendars! From September 18 to September 21, audiences can watch the film at various locations including Shaw NEX, Shaw Waterway Point, and Golden Village Yishun. Cheng expects the timing for weekend showtimes to be released on September 18, with the possibility of more slots opening based on ticket sales.

The film crew has been overwhelmed with support and is hopeful that this enthusiasm will translate into ticket sales. Cheng emphasized the importance of community backing, stating that a strong turnout would not only benefit their film but also signal to cinema operators that independent films deserve to be showcased.

"Those who want to see more of our movie, and who wish for the local cinematic scene to flourish, can help by purchasing tickets and spreading the word," Cheng urged.

He expressed gratitude for the love the film has received, hoping viewers will come out to enjoy what he describes as a heartfelt tribute to Singapore, filled with humor and charm. "We’re aiming for more showtimes beyond this initial run, but success hinges on how the first screenings perform," he concluded.
