SINGAPORE - Singaporeans woke up to a stormy start on Polling Day, May 3, as heavy rainfall engulfed the island, prompting flash flood warnings in three key areas.
At 8:12 AM, the national water agency, PUB, raised alarms on social media about potential flash floods at Upper Paya Lebar Service Road, Jalan Lokam, and Thrift Drive. They urged residents to steer clear of these spots for at least an hour due to the severe weather conditions.
Earlier, at 6:42 AM, PUB had warned that torrential rains were poised to sweep across Singapore from 7:15 AM to 8:45 AM. The National Environment Agency added to the tension with a 6:33 AM alert, forecasting moderate to heavy thundery showers, accompanied by strong winds.
However, by around 10 AM, reports indicated that the downpour had subsided, bringing a sigh of relief to voters heading to the polls.
As Singaporeans make their way to cast their votes, it's a reminder of the unpredictability of Mother Nature, and how she could influence the dynamics of this crucial day.
