In a rousing announcement, Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has unveiled a dedicated team of potential PAP candidates, igniting excitement ahead of the upcoming General Elections in 2025.
In a heartfelt video, Wong emphasized the importance of community support: "We need your support. Let’s build a better Singapore for ourselves and all our loved ones." This message resonates deeply as the nation prepares for significant electoral changes.
The video, released shortly after the Writ of Election on April 15, features nine promising candidates, three of whom were officially revealed earlier as part of the latest constituency line-ups. Notable names include former permanent secretary Jeffrey Siow and academic Choo Pei Ling, who will join the Chua Chu Kang GRC team, alongside charity director David Hoe for the Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC.
Wong reflected on the spirit of community in Singapore, sharing how the nation thrives on collaboration: "You see this every day, not in headlines, but in the hands that provide and the hearts that refuse to give up." He believes that the true measure of success lies not just in personal achievements, but in uplifting one another.
This new chapter marks the PAP's largest slate of over 30 new candidates in recent history. Included in the recent video are former Transport Ministry director Foo Cexiang, who has been active in Punggol GRC, and Valerie Lee, Sembcorp’s head of corporate affairs, seen engaging with locals in Pasir Ris-Changi GRC.
Among the featured newcomers is Elysa Chen, executive director of CampusImpact, who was recently active in a walkabout at Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC alongside Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat. Another standout is Madam Hazlina Abdul Halim, poised to succeed Dr. Maliki Osman in East Coast GRC, previously leading the Make-A-Wish Singapore organization.
The video also showcases Dinesh Vasu Dash, a former chief of the Agency for Integrated Care, and lawyer Alex Yeo, who contested in Aljunied GRC during the 2020 elections. Together, these candidates represent a diverse blend of experience from both public and private sectors.
PM Wong's third video since April 12 highlights a transformative vision for Singapore, built on a foundation of empathy and collective progress as the nation gears up for a defining electoral moment.
