Big Changes for Cross-Border Commuters!

SINGAPORE - Starting September 15, early birds will rejoice! The first buses from the Johor Bahru (JB) checkpoint to Woodlands will now take off at 4:50 AM on weekdays, a full 10 minutes earlier than the previous schedule of 5 AM. This adjustment aims to mitigate the notorious early morning traffic jams that plague the Causeway.

A Boost for Commuters!

This new schedule includes the popular SMRT service 950, along with SBS Transit services 160, 170, and 170X, all designed to make commuting smoother for the throngs of Singapore-bound travelers.

Why the Rush to Change?

The move comes as Malaysian authorities expressed their concerns over heavy traffic, with requests for a start time as early as 4 AM being reviewed by Singapore's Land Transport Authority and local bus operators.

Real Issues on the Ground!

Johor official Fazli Salleh highlighted the staggering queues of passengers forming as early as 4 AM at the JB checkpoint, showcasing the urgency of an earlier bus service to ease the chaos.

Service Details!

For those unfamiliar, here's a quick breakdown: Service 950 runs between Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange and JB Sentral, Service 160 connects Jurong Town Hall to JB Sentral, while Service 170 links Larkin Terminal in Johor Bahru to Queen Street Terminal in Singapore. The shorter Service 170X operates between Kranji MRT station and JB Sentral.

More Options for Travelers!

In addition to these key services, commuters can also choose from the Causeway Link fleet and private options like AC7 and Singapore-Johore Express. Notably, the Causeway Link buses kick off their routes from various spots in Johor at 4 AM daily.

Looking Ahead!

And that’s not all! The eagerly anticipated Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link is set to commence operations by the end of 2026, running from 6 AM to midnight, further transforming cross-border travel. Buckle up, commuters; your journey is about to get a whole lot smoother!
