Join the Cause: Help Afghanistan and Pakistan!
In a heartfelt appeal, the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) from Singapore has kicked off a vital fundraising campaign aimed at gathering a minimum of $100,000 to assist communities devastated by recent natural disasters in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Running from September 15 to October 5, the campaign seeks donations directed towards providing essential resources, including search-and-rescue efforts, food, clean drinking water, emergency medical supplies, and much-needed mental health support for those affected.
Natural Disasters: A Call for Urgent Assistance
The urgency of this appeal is underscored by a series of catastrophic events. On August 31, Afghanistan experienced a catastrophic 6.0-magnitude earthquake, one of its deadliest in recent history, followed by a 5.5-magnitude quake just days later. The tragedies claimed over 2,200 lives and destroyed approximately 8,000 homes.
Pakistan, on the other hand, is grappling with severe flash floods that have engulfed more than 2,000 villages, displacing over two million individuals, with confirmed fatalities of 33.
Easy Ways to Contribute!
To facilitate donations, RLAF will set up donation boxes marked with their logo at participating mosques in Singapore between September 26 and October 2. All funds collected will be coordinated through the Singapore Red Cross to ensure they reach the affected communities swiftly.
A united Effort for Recovery
The Singapore Red Cross is collaborating with key partners, including the Afghan Red Crescent Society, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to provide effective relief.
Adnan Abdul Hamid, RLAF’s Chief Executive, emphasized the significance of community support, stating, "Every contribution, no matter how small, brings hope and relief to those who need it most. We believe in the compassion of our community to rally together during this critical time."
Speaking on the initiative, Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for past contributions and highlighted the collective spirit of Singaporeans. He urged the public to come together once more to support this crucial cause.
Be the Change!
Now is the time to stand in solidarity with our neighbors in their hour of need. Every dollar counts, and together, we can make a significant impact in the lives of those affected.
