SINGAPORE – In a battle against climate change that shows no signs of slowing, Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean emphasized the urgent need for increased global collaboration during his keynote address at Ecosperity Week, held on May 6.
"Climate change does not pause for us to prepare. The longer we wait, the steeper and more difficult our journey will be," Teo warned, as Singapore commits to securing its future through international partnerships aimed at emissions reduction.
Against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions that often push sustainability to the sidelines, Teo highlighted alarming trends. For instance, the United States, a major emitter, announced its withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, and Indonesia questioned its relevance to their national interests.
