In a shocking turn of events, Shopee has come under fire after players of its popular game, Fruits, found their earned coins snatched away due to a mysterious system error. Users are fuming over the unexpected clawback, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among fans of the game.
What Happened? A Game Turned Sour!
The drama unfolded when several players, known as Stompers, reported that their hard-won coins were abruptly deducted without warning. One frustrated player, Guo, stated, "Shopee launched an event in its Juice Vendor game on July 1, only to defraud us of our earnings without any notice." Designated to run for the entire month, the event was prematurely terminated just a day later, on July 2.
Stompers who managed to rack up significant winnings felt betrayed, with one player detailing how completing levels in the game rewarded her with a staggering 14,563 coins — equivalent to $145.63. But all that joy turned to despair when the coins vanished from her account.
Tales of Disappointment and Frustration!
Another player, identified as Bxxxx9, experienced an even bigger loss, with $357.50 disappearing from her wallet. She expressed her disbelief, saying, "Without my authorization, Shopee just took away my 35,750 coins. When I reached out to customer service, they cited a ’system error’ for the wrongful credits."
Players argue that such a mistake should have been avoided, especially after investing time and effort into the game, only to see their earnings erased. One user lamented how domestic helpers—who often rely on these small wins for extra pocket money—had their happiness snatched away due to this blunder.
The Apology that Came Too Late!
While Shopee eventually credited the 'correct amount' back to players, the response felt like salt in the wound. "I only received 65 coins back when I was owed 35,750! It’s an outright insult!" complained a player.
In light of the backlash, a Shopee spokesperson issued an apology, acknowledging the frustration caused by the coin adjustments and confirmed that a system error was indeed responsible. They assured users that the issue was being taken seriously and pledged to review internal processes to prevent future mishaps.
Will Trust Be Restored?
As players continue to voice their concerns on social media platforms, the question remains: can Shopee restore trust after such a mishap? With many feeling let down, it’s clear that the road to recovery will demand not just compensation, but a stronger commitment to transparency and user satisfaction.
