In a harrowing case that has sent shockwaves through Singapore, a 31-year-old man, labeled a "one-man distribution hub" for child sexual abuse material, has been sentenced to three years and one month in prison alongside four strokes of the cane.

Danial Abdul Rahman pled guilty to possessing 285 videos featuring disturbing content, including children appearing to engage in sexual activities, some of which revealed brutal physical abuse. Alarmingly, 414 children were depicted, with 383 identifiable.

The longest video in the collection lasted over an hour and 50 minutes, drawing the attention of the authorities due to its extreme nature.

The court learned that while pursuing a career in digital marketing, Danial’s descent into depravity began in 2017. Initially seeking adult content on Tumblr, he soon shifted his focus to accessing child abuse material through the dark web and various channels on Telegram.

Danial’s sinister online activities didn’t stop there; he created a Twitter (now X) account to share and retweet similar obscene content, building a follower base of 200 to 500 individuals. He even accepted private messages from users requesting help in obtaining child abuse content, which he was more than willing to provide.

Despite his Twitter account being suspended in May 2021, Danial continued distributing child abuse material via Telegram until police arrested him on May 12, 2022, following a tip-off about his illegal activities.

Upon raiding his home, authorities seized devices that contained the 285 videos, revealing acts so depraved that they included infants being subjected to degrading acts.

In court, the prosecution described Danial’s actions as "reprehensible in the highest degree," seeking a harsher sentence of 37 to 39 months and up to six strokes of the cane. They emphasized his active role in perpetuating the market for child sexual abuse material.

Under Singapore law, Danial faced a maximum sentence of seven years, fines, and caning for possessing such abhorrent material with intent to distribute. This case serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing battle against child exploitation in the digital age, highlighting the necessity for decisive action against offenders.
