SINGAPORE - In a surprising move, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has revoked the license of MaNaDr Clinic as of December 20, citing serious ethical and clinical violations.

This decision means that MaNaDr Clinic can no longer offer outpatient medical services, not just at its City Gate location at 371 Beach Road, but also in temporary settings like patients’ homes or through teleconsultations.

The MOH’s statement revealed an alarming pattern of negligence at MaNaDr Clinic, with investigations uncovering what they described as an 'entrenched culture of disregard' for established medical standards.

A particularly staggering finding highlighted that a significant portion of consultations were alarmingly brief—over 100,000 teleconsultations in one sampled month lasted one minute or less, including some as short as one second. This raises serious questions about the quality of patient care being provided.

'The prevalence of such inappropriate practices suggests a lack of effective internal oversight, controls, and governance,' the MOH emphasized, indicating that safety and proper care were not being upheld by the clinic’s staff.

As a direct consequence, all related accreditations and participation in essential financial support schemes—like the Community Health Assist Scheme (Chas), MediSave, and Healthier SG—are now void.

In light of its abrupt closure, the ministry has urged MaNaDr Clinic to notify all affected patients to secure continuity of care.

Patients who relied on the clinic can seek treatment at nearby facilities participating in Chas, MediSave, or Healthier SG.

This revocation follows a notice issued on October 24, where the MOH initially indicated their intent to remove the clinic's license under the Healthcare Services Act of 2020.

Although MaNaDr Clinic had the opportunity to contest these findings, the MOH ultimately concluded that the issues were too severe to ignore.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Health has committed to rigorous oversight of outpatient medical service providers, especially those offering teleconsultation.

It vows to take strong regulatory actions against any clinics that fail to meet compliance standards in the future.

This shocking revocation has raised alarms about patient safety in the rapidly expanding world of telemedicine, and more stringent regulations may be on the horizon to ensure such egregious oversights do not happen again.
