SINGAPORE – A dramatic scene unfolded at Kinex Mall in Tanjong Katong on November 9, when a man was taken into custody after a violent altercation with two other individuals. The incident, which has garnered significant attention, resulted in both victims requiring medical treatment.

According to reports, the altercation erupted when a 29-year-old suspect allegedly inappropriately touched Dan, a 30-year-old sales executive, as he and his friend Sam, a 28-year-old vehicle mechanic, were exiting the restroom on the third floor of the mall. Outraged by the suspect's actions, the two men confronted him as he exited the toilet. Dan captured part of the confrontation on video, in which the suspect defiantly denied the allegations before attempting to leave the scene.

"We just wanted to get to the bottom of what happened," Dan explained.

Fearing that the suspect might flee, the pair decided to follow him around the mall. The situation escalated near the lift lobby, leading to an intense fight that resulted in significant injuries for both Dan and Sam.

Sam suffered a dislocated shoulder and bite wounds to his palm and scalp, and has since been granted 23 days of medical leave. Dan, on the other hand, sustained facial scratches and received a two-day medical certificate. Both men declined to disclose their real names, possibly due to concerns regarding privacy or retaliation.

Emergency services were alerted at around 9:45 PM.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived shortly after. The injured parties were swiftly transported to Changi General Hospital for treatment, while law enforcement apprehended the suspect for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

Sam’s fiancée, Shan, expressed deep concern over his condition.

She stated, “Sam’s daily routine is disrupted. He can’t work normally, and surgery may be required.” The gravity of the situation has raised questions about safety in public spaces, especially regarding harassment and personal safety.
