In a shocking incident that raised alarm in the community, a 47-year-old unemployed man was apprehended after injuring a 13-year-old student in a hit-and-run accident on the grounds of a secondary school in Taman Bintang, Pantai Remis, on Wednesday, October 23.

Details of the Incident

According to ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman, the police chief of the Manjung district, the suspect was arrested later that day, along with the white Myvi vehicle involved in the incident. The dramatic series of events unfolded in the late afternoon, around 5:30 PM, when the man's reckless driving led to his car crashing into a basketball court gate, causing it to collapse.

However, the chaos didn't end there. Witnesses reported that after the initial crash, the suspect dangerously drove onto school grounds and headed toward the hall, where he struck a female student who was practicing volleyball. The impact left her with injuries to her left leg, prompting immediate medical attention. She was subsequently taken to Seri Manjung Hospital for care.

Suspect's Condition and Charges

Following his arrest, the suspect was also taken to the hospital for treatment due to his apparent unstable mental condition. This bizarre and troubling sequence of events is currently being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which pertains to attempted murder.
