In an alarming incident in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, a bus driver and six passengers experienced a harrowing ordeal when their vehicle collided with an overhead height barrier. This shocking accident took place along Jalan Arab Malaysian-Bukit Mahkota around 10:30 PM on July 4, leaving passengers in fear and confusion.

Driver's Distracted Navigation

According to authorities, the driver was reportedly using the Waze navigation app during the journey, which may have contributed to his failure to notice the imposing structure ahead. Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof from the Kajang district police department stated, "The driver was not aware of the barrier when the incident occurred."

The Collision's Aftermath

The collision was so forceful that the express bus became lodged beneath the barrier. Travelling with a total of 22 passengers, including three children, the bus was en route from Kuantan, the capital of Pahang, heading towards the southern states of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.

Injuries and Medical Response

Despite the severity of the crash, those injured sustained light injuries. Four individuals were taken to Hospital Serdang, while the remaining three were directed to Hospital Tunku Jaafar in Seremban. Thankfully, other passengers who were not injured were quickly assisted by their family members who arrived at the scene.

Local authorities are treating this incident seriously, investigating under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
