A Jaw-Dropping Delivery Cost!

SINGAPORE – In a stunning revelation, popular local TV host Lee Teng disclosed that he and his wife, Gina Lin, shelled out nearly $100,000 for their baby's delivery and associated expenses!

Welcome to Parenthood!

The couple welcomed their son in July, arriving a bit earlier than expected via cesarean section. Lee, 41, and his significantly younger wife, Gina, decided to share their eye-popping expenses on his YouTube channel on September 11, where Lee expressed his disbelief at the hefty bill.

A Unique Situation!

The Taiwan-born star clarified that their experience was not the norm and reflected their particular circumstances. Previously, Gina faced a miscarriage in 2020, making this pregnancy even more precious. They chose to keep the news under wraps until the baby was a month old.

Class A Comfort Comes at a Price!

Opting for a Class A ward at a private hospital, Gina's hospital stay extended longer than the typical four-day, three-night stint, lasting five days and four nights due to special medical needs.

Unexpected Procedures Lead to Higher Bills!

Originally admitted for bed rest, a medical evaluation determined an emergency cesarean was necessary, contributing to an increased hospital bill of around $30,000—this encompassed both delivery and accommodation fees.

A Comparative Cost Breakdown!

Lee mentioned that a standard cesarean in the same private ward typically ranges from $15,000 to $18,000, while a natural delivery costs about $10,000. He added that expenses would have been less had they opted for a public hospital.

Neonatal Care Adds to the Tab!

Due to the early arrival, their newborn was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit for observation, significantly inflating the total costs. Medical fees for the baby hit around $65,000, pushing their grand total, including prenatal check-ups, to over a staggering $100,000!

A Focus on Health!

Despite the shock of the costs, both parents emphasized their priorities: Gina stated, "At that moment, I only wanted my baby to be healthy, and for me to deliver him safely. I didn’t think about anything else." Lee echoed her sentiments, asserting that the health of his wife and child was paramount, remarking that money could always be earned back.
