In a shocking incident that has left the community reeling, a priest was stabbed by a knife-wielding man during evening mass at St Joseph’s Church in Upper Bukit Timah on November 9. The attack unfolded around 6:15 PM while the priest was administering Holy Communion, causing panic among parishioners, especially as many children were present at the front of the church.

The assailant, identified as a 37-year-old Singaporean man with a history of serious offenses and drug-related issues, was quickly subdued by members of the congregation. Eyewitness Ms. Lee, who was attending the mass, described the moment the attack occurred. "It all happened so quickly. He seemed normal when he approached for communion, and then out of nowhere, he pulled a small knife." "It is fortunate that many in the congregation acted swiftly to prevent further harm, though I deeply hope the affected parishioners find healing from this traumatic event."
