A Promising Candidate for the Future
In the bustling heart of Singapore, a new political contender is making waves. Mr. Shawn Loh, previously a director at the Ministry of Finance (MOF), has been hailed as a perfect match for the residents of Jalan Besar by Mrs. Josephine Teo, the PAP team leader in the area.
Speaking during the vibrant SG60 Kids’ Carnival event, Mrs. Teo expressed her hopes for Loh’s candidacy, stating, "I will certainly hope the Prime Minister considers fielding Shawn within our constituency." Her enthusiasm reflects a strategic move by the People's Action Party ahead of the 2025 General Elections.
An Experienced Professional Ready to Serve
At just 38 years old, Shawn Loh holds a wealth of experience that could greatly benefit Jalan Besar GRC. Recently appointed director of security and resilience programs at MOF, he was crucial in crafting Singapore’s 2024 and 2025 Budgets, which prominently featured initiatives from the Forward Singapore engagement exercise.
His commitment to community welfare is evident from his work on significant programs like the Community Development Council (CDC) and SG60 voucher schemes, aimed at enhancing support for residents.
Bridging Challenges with Expertise
Prior to his tenure with the MOF, Loh was vice-president at the Economic Development Board, where he worked closely with Singapore businesses and focused on industry manpower development. Mrs. Teo noted that during this time of shifting economic conditions, Loh’s diverse experience in both public and private sectors could prove invaluable. "His international outlook and professional expertise will help us strengthen our programs designed to better support small and medium enterprises," she emphasized.
A Family Man Committed to Community
Not only is Loh professionally qualified, but he is also a dedicated father of four. Currently employed at Commonwealth Capital Group, he shares insights into the concerns facing local businesses, stating, "I think many businesses are worried about the current environment, and I hope to assist them in navigating these challenges."
