SINGAPORE – September has arrived, and it's bringing a wet welcome! Prepare for thundery showers and gusty winds that are forecasted to make appearances on most mornings during the first half of the month.
Rainfall Predictions Are Off the Charts!
According to the Meteorological Service Singapore, the south-west monsoon is here to stay, with rainfall expected to soar above average across many areas of the country. Get ready for days filled with moderate to heavy downpours, particularly during late mornings and afternoons. Rain or shine, the winds are expected to come in from the south-east or south-west.

Despite the rainy forecast, residents can still expect daily maximum temperatures ranging from 32°C to 34°C. It seems like the humidity might be as high as the temperatures!
August Climaxed with Record Rainfall!
Just to recap, the last two weeks of August saw some wild weather, with approximately half of the island experiencing above-average rainfall. The Clementi area was particularly drenched, recording a staggering 128% increase in rainfall. Meanwhile, Changi had a dry spell with rainfall measuring 40% below average.
A Soaking Surprise on August 24!
The most astonishing single-day rainfall occurred on August 24, when Ulu Pandan was hammered with a whopping 104.2mm, thanks to a passing Sumatra squall that swept across the nation with strong thundery showers.
Hottest Days of August!
On the temperature front, Ang Mo Kio was the hottest spot on August 22, hitting a high of 34.7°C. A reminder that while rain may be coming, the heat isn't going anywhere soon!
